9.20.2012

In continuing its support of higher education across Kentucky, the 15th annual LG&E and KU Foundations Scholarship Program awarded $1,200 in financial assistance for up to four years to 10 outstanding college-bound students. The program is available to the children of employees of LG&E and KU Energy LLC, and is intended to be used toward tuition, books, fees, supplies and classroom equipment.

"For the last 15 years, our scholarship program has demonstrated the company's continued support of higher education," said Laura Douglas, vice president of LG&E and KU Corporate Responsibility and Community Affairs. "As the leaders of tomorrow, these students are shaping their futures and will soon be contributing their talents to our communities."

Independent judges from the Scholarship America's Scholarship Selection Committee selected the recipients based on academic skills, school and community activities, leadership abilities and communications skills demonstrated by each student's personal statements. To qualify, students must currently be enrolled or plan to enroll full time in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited college or university. Students must have a high school cumulative GPA of 3.0 and must maintain a 3.0 GPA while attending a college or university.
