LG&E's “Gas Line Tracker”
In addition to the rate increase for LG&E's natural gas customers, the PSC approved LG&E's Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for a proposed five-year natural gas line program, similar to what many other gas utilities around the country have done, to assume responsibility for the portion of the gas service from the street to the house or business.
Effective Jan. 1, 2013, LG&E natural gas customers will see a new line item on their bills called the “Gas Line Tracker.” The amount of the new line item is:
LG&E Residential Natural Gas Customers: $2.27 per meter per month
LG&E Commercial Natural Gas Customers: $11.24 per meter per month
This new program relieves customers of any expenses associated with maintaining the service lines since LG&E will now be responsible for making any necessary repairs to that portion of the service.
In addition, LG&E will proactively replace certain gas risers and take ownership of them. The diagram below shows where the natural gas riser is on a customer's service.
