S. Bradford "Brad" Rives, CAO of LG&E and KU Energy LLC, has more than 30 years of experience in the electric and natural gas utility industry. Rives began his service at Louisville Gas and Electric Company in 1983, when he joined the company as assistant manager, tax accounting. Since that time, he has held a variety of positions at LG&E and KU Energy including assistant treasurer; associate general counsel; senior vice president, finance and business development; senior vice president, finance and controller and chief financial officer before being promoted to his present position in 2012.
Rives earned a bachelor's degree in accounting at the University of Kentucky, and a JD at the University of Louisville's Brandeis Law School. He is a CPA and attorney and began his career in public accounting with Arthur Andersen and Company. He has also completed the Executive Program on Leading Corporate Transformation and the Senior Executive Program on Leading Change and Organizational Renewal at the E.ON Academy at Harvard University.
In addition to professional and trade memberships, Rives serves on the University of Louisville School of Business board of advisors, the Lincoln Heritage Council Boy Scouts of America's executive board, and the Kentucky Derby Museum board of directors. He also chairs the National Kidney Foundation of Kentucky Golf Classic.
Rives graduated from Saint Xavier High School and now serves on its board of directors and chairs its audit committee. He also serves on the board of the Catholic Education Foundation. He and his wife Mary Klarer have three children.
He was named 2009 CFO of the Year by Louisville's business publication, Business First.
