While David Osborne retired in April after 36 years of dedicated service, here's a brief look at his day-to-day responsibilities while at the company.
What’s your job title, and what are your responsibilities?
Currently I’m an Operations and Maintenance Crew supervisor at the Cane Rune 7 NGCC plant. I am responsible for the safe and efficient operation of electric production to the customers in our service area. We work at the plant 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on swing shift.
How long have you worked at LG&E and KU?
I have worked at LGE for 36 years starting at the Cane Run station coal plant facility as a station helper. In October of 2014, I was assigned to the new natural gas plant which was built on this site and went into commercial operation on June 19, 2015.
What do you like best/enjoy most about working at LG&E and KU?
What I enjoy most about working at LGE is the people that I work with. They are like a second family due to the amount of time spent here working a lot of nights, weekends and holidays.
Do you have any particular interests/hobbies you pursue outside work?
My wife, Cheryl, and I enjoy sightseeing and traveling, and we are looking forward to my retirement coming up in April. Cheryl and I have four children and three grandchildren which we are very proud of, and we try to spend quality time with them.
Is there something about you/your job or career that people may be surprised to learn?
Until 2010 I was actively working as a deputy sheriff and was involved in the fire and EMS service.
What type of music do you like?
My music interests are 60s, 70s and country.
What’s your favorite food?
My favorite food is meatloaf, potatoes and beans, but I also like steak and cookouts.
