Have you made your fun list for the summer? With Kentucky’s many festivals, events and celebrations on the horizon, the good times are coming around.

No matter the event, dedicated volunteers, organizing committees and sponsors bring them to life. For 2017, LG&E and KU is supporting a variety of happenings that help make our communities glow. Don’t miss these eight upcoming summer events that are fun for the whole family:  

Now until August 13, Kentucky Shakespeare Festival ─ Kentucky Shakespeare's 57th season features "Much Ado About Nothing," "Richard II," "Julius Caesar," "The Merchant of Venice" and more. Performances are free to the public, Central Park, Louisville.

June 24Campbellsburg Day ─ A day filled with food, music, a car show, magic, the Velcro wall for kids and activities for all ages, Campbellsburg, Ky.

July 1,2,3River Days ─ With free admission, this tradition sparkles with live music, fireworks, food, a 5K run/walk and plenty of crafts, Warsaw, Ky.

July 1Riverview Independence Festival ─ Enjoy food, live music, fireworks and more at Riverview Park, 8202 Greenwood Road, Louisville. Now until August 13

July 4Lexington’s Fourth of July Festival ─ Fireworks begin at 10 p.m. to cap off a two-day celebration that begins Monday, July 3 with a Great American Pie Contest followed by a parade and a host of activities leading up to the fireworks, Lexington.

July 4Simpsonville’s The Boom ─ Fireworks show filled with colorful effects plus live music, food and more activities, Simpsonville, Ky.

July 15-30Homearama ─ The annual tour of custom built new homes that are fully furnished, decorated, landscaped and feature the latest in building trends, technology and interior design, Poplar Woods, Poplar Wood Drive, Goshen, Ky.

Aug. 17 – 27, Kentucky State Fair ─ From award-winning livestock and blue-ribbon arts and crafts, to free concerts, midway rides and plenty of food options, there’s something for everyone at the state fair, Louisville.
