Career profiles - Customer service careers

LG&E and KU are committed to offering the best in customer service, and we need the best employees to do that. We're looking for dedicated individuals with exceptional talent and commitment for customer service positions in these areas of the company.

Business Service Center

Business Service Center (BSC) representatives are responsible for taking calls from our commercial customers. Like their counterparts in the RSC, Business Service Center representatives handle billing and service requests. Because small business and commercial customers typically have a larger number of rate categories and energy efficiency programs available to them, BSC representatives must maintain an excellent understanding of company programs and have strong analytical and communication skills.

Residential Service Center

Residential Service Center (RSC) customer care representatives are responsible for taking calls in a courteous and professional manner from residential customers with billing questions and service requests. Customer care representatives explain gas and electric gas charges, company processes and policies, billing rates and energy efficiency programs. They also participate in on-call scheduling for outage and other emergency events and cover alternate shifts, if needed.

Successful customer service employees in any of these areas need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; a two- or four-year college degree, preferably in business, is desirable.
  • One year of customer service experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Multi-tasking skills for a fast-paced environment.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
