Bill payment by mail

You can mail your check or money order and stub using the convenient return envelope we include in your monthly statement.

To avoid late payment charges, please allow up to 7 days from the mailing date for receipt and processing of your payment.

Bill payment locations

Authorized payment agents

Pay your utility bill at retail locations using authorized CheckFreePay agents. Pay by cash or debit card. Additional fees apply.

Non-essential businesses may be closed as communities combat the spread of COVID-19. Many of the CheckFreePay authorized retail payment agent locations are grocery stores that will likely remain open, but may be changing their hours of operation. We recommend contacting them for more information.

Business office walk-in locations

Health protocols have been put in place inside our Customer Service Centers for walk-in customer transactions.

Because we care about you, we are:

  • Complying with CDC guidelines and governors’ recommendations.
  • Encouraging practice of social distancing.
  • Using protective workstation barriers.
  • Washing our hands frequently.
  • Providing hand sanitizer stations.
  • Enhancing our cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting.
  • Requiring employees to wear face coverings when appropriate.
Offices with a drive-through window

Drive-through windows are still open for customer transactions. Our representatives are taking extra precautions, like sanitizing their hands and surfaces.

Offices without a drive-through window

Some of our business offices do not have a drive-through window option. Customers can continue to use the Payment Drop Box as a touch-free way to leave payments. Be sure to seal your payment in an envelope and include your bill stub and/or Name, Address, Phone Number and Account Number with your payment.

Authorized retail payment agents are also taking payments in cash or by debit card. Find a location near you.

Third party bill payment

For customers using third-party services, such as a bank to manage payment of several monthly bills at a time, it’s important to note that LG&E and KU cannot control when your payment is received.   Be sure to allow ample time – we recommend 7 business days – for payment processing if using a third-party source other than our authorized payment provider, Paymentus, or sending your payment by mail.
