Eileen L. Saunders was named to her position in January 2020 and has 28 years of diverse experience in the gas and electric industry.
In her current role, Saunders has a wide range of customer relationship responsibilities, including metering, customer call center operations, marketing, billing, revenue collection, economic development, customer renewable energy offerings and energy efficiency operations.
Saunders joined LG&E and KU in 1994 as manager of Organization Development to oversee leadership training for employees. Later, she became manager of Maintenance at the Trimble County Generating Station and was responsible for unit availability and reliability to help ensure dependable electricity for customers. In 2001, Saunders transitioned to the Project Engineering Department to manage multiple large-scale construction projects. She was promoted to director of Generation Services in 2013 to oversee support services for the companies’ power plants. In 2017, Saunders was named the director of Safety and Technical Training where she implemented strategies, programs and procedures designed to ensure the safety of LG&E and KU employees, business partners and the general public.
Prior to joining LG&E, Saunders worked as a long-distance call center manager and organizational development manager for AT&T in her hometown of Pittsburgh.
Saunders attended The American University in Washington, D.C. obtaining her bachelor’s degree in communications and master’s degree in human resources/organizational development. She is very active in her church and the community, and she serves on the boards of The Kentucky Performing Arts Foundation and Leadership Kentucky. She is also a Trustee for Family Scholar House.
