Common questions

How long will this project take to complete?

This project is scheduled to start in the fall of 2025 and is expected to be completed by early 2026.

Will I lose electric service during this time?

No. The work will not impact your electric service.

How do I request gas service?

There are three ways to request service.

Residential customers will need to provide primary and joint account holder (if any) Social Security number(s). Business customers will need to provide their Federal Tax ID number.

Will my property or yard be damaged?

Property owners of locations in which work will occur will be notified in advance, and the area will be restored after the work is complete.

What kind of damage are you anticipating?

All work will be performed within existing road right of ways or acquired easements. During construction, a trench will be dug in the roadway, grass, and across driveways to install the new gas main. Once the pipe is installed, it will be backfilled and restored to the same condition as it was previously. Any roadway or driveway cuts will be restored with either concrete or asphalt to match the existing pavement. Driveways will be replaced from the cut for the trench to the existing road. Driveways will be plated if needed to allow residents access.

Will traffic be blocked near the work area?

We will make every effort to minimize traffic disruptions, but there may be times when traffic will be impacted. There may be trucks and heavy equipment traveling in the area and brief closures. We will post signs if a temporary detour is necessary for safety purposes. In situations like this, we will minimize the length of time traffic will be blocked to the best of our ability, and crews will be on-site to move any construction vehicles that may be blocking the road for residents who live in the area.

What kind of equipment will I see?

Crews will be working in the area and using equipment such as dozers, excavators, concrete trucks and dump trucks during construction.

Will roads be damaged during construction?

If there is road damage, we will make repairs and restore the roads after our work is complete.

How do I know if someone working in the area is an LG&E employee or contractor?

LG&E employees and supervisors of our contract partners will have a company ID card with the person’s name and photograph, plus the LG&E company logo. These individuals will be on site or nearby when others are working in the project area. If you are unsure about someone who is working on your property, you are encouraged to ask the individual to speak with their supervisor or an LG&E employee.
