Our technicians need easy access to your meter each month so they can get an accurate reading. That, of course, helps ensure the amount you owe on your monthly bill is the correct charge.
Meters must be accessible between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but 24-hour access is preferred. That way our technicians can get to your meter whenever there might be an emergency (such as a power outage), or if they need to take care of a safety hazard or repair damaged equipment. For easy access, meters:
• Should have a minimum of six feet of clearance in the front and two feet of clearance on each side.
• Should not be blocked by plants or shrubs.
• Should not be behind locked fences.
If your meter is behind a locked fence or your dog is in the yard, call us. We’ll work with you to make sure your meter is accessible when it’s scheduled to be read.
