In honor of Veterans Day, LG&E and KU is celebrating its military veteran employees by profiling members of the company's Armed Forces Energy Partners (AFEP) Business Resource Group. AFEP's mission is to make LG&E and KU the employer of choice for veterans, reservists and guardsmen by developing an internal network of veteran employees and serving the veteran community as a whole.
Jamie Peck, contract administrator at LG&E and KU's Riverport facility, has been with the company since August 2020. He recently retired from the Army after 20 years of service and moved his family to Kentucky.
Peck began his military career as an armor crewman on the Abrams tank. Over the years, he held various leadership positions as a tank platoon sergeant, tank master gunner, and operations planner at the strategic level. He also served as a tactical NCO for the United States Military Academy, where he mentored cadets on leadership and character, aiding in their development as future Army leaders. Peck’s military career culminated when he became company first sergeant for staff and faculty at West Point, New York.
He recently joined the Armed Forces Energy Partners group because he wants to continue a life of service to others and stay engaged with veterans and the community. Peck noted that AFEP’s mission aligns with his own goals, and he’s proud to work for LG&E and KU because “it’s a great company for veterans to be a part of and a great place to work.”
Peck lives with his spouse, Kristin, three children, and their Great Dane “Grizzly” in the Louisville area.
