Shannon Montgomery

Shannon Montgomery was named to her position in March 2024 and has more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry. In her current role, Montgomery has a wide range of customer relationship responsibilities, including metering, customer contact center operations, market research, billing, revenue collection, customer renewable energy offerings, and energy efficiency operations.

Before being named to her current position, Montgomery served as director, AMI deployment, overseeing the deployment of advanced meters across LG&E and KU service territories as well as the development of new Advanced Meter Operations and AMI Engineering organizations. Before joining the AMI project, Montgomery served as director of Customer Revenue. She joined the company in 2003 as a manager in Energy Marketing and has held leadership positions within IT Development & Support, Electric Distribution, Gas Operations, and Customer Services.

Prior to joining LG&E and KU, Montgomery worked for Exxon as an IT engineer and manager within refining, retail, and energy trading. She also worked as a principal consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers, leading initiatives in energy trading involving M&As, joint ventures, business process optimization, and large IT implementations.

Montgomery holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Louisville J.B. Speed School of Engineering and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Indiana University. She also earned her doctorate in leadership from Spalding University.

Committed to serving her community, Montgomery currently serves on the board of Leadership Kentucky and was a graduate of the program in 2018.
