What is an estimated bill and how is it calculated?

Our meter readers attempt to read your meter every month. However, sometimes there are things that prevent an actual reading from taking place.

This could include heavy vegetation in front of a meter which blocks access or an aggressive animal in the yard that is a safety risk, for example. In cases where an actual meter reading can’t occur, an estimated bill is produced for that month.

Estimated bills are calculated based on several factors, such as the usage history for your account(s) during the same billing period in previous years, current temperatures, etc.

Any difference between your estimated usage and actual usage is automatically adjusted the next time your meter is read. Only the difference between the actual usage and the estimate will appear on the next bill.
