Will McDowell joined LG&E and KU in January of 2019. His economic development career began in 2012 with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development where he served as the site’s and building coordinator and the industrial development manager. During his time with the cabinet, McDowell managed the RFI response process and established the Build Ready Programs, Kentucky’s first site certification process.  

In 2015 he became vice president of Paducah Economic Development (PED), leading the marketing attraction efforts and the existing business outreach programs for the organization.  While at PED, McDowell earned the designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) from the International Economic Development Council.
As an economic development project manager, McDowell’s primary responsibilities involve working to grow and improve LG&E and KU Energy’s industrial site inventory and supporting the company’s efforts to attract new and grow existing customers. He is based in Paducah, Kentucky where he serves as the main economic development point of contact for communities is the western part of the service territory.

McDowell earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and finance from the University of Evansville. He is a native of Paducah where he lives with his wife, Kristina, and their three young boys.  He serves as a board member for Easter Seals of West Kentucky and coaches youth soccer.
