Making a positive impact on students in our communities

Our company supports hundreds of programs and initiatives throughout our service areas. The LG&E and KU Foundation Community Grant program offers employee opportunities for engagement with students in the communities we serve. Here are a couple of the initiatives we have participated in recently.

  • Jobs for America’s Graduates is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting young people who have various barriers in their lives. The organization strives to keep them on track to graduate and eventually find employment. LG&E and KU employees have been engaging with students at Bell County, Middlesboro, Lynn Camp and Barbourville high schools in Kentucky throughout the school year. Visits included a broad view of the utility industry; a general overview of electrical safety; and information on becoming a line tech, working in field services and how call centers work.
  • Sunrise Children’s Services provides therapeutic foster care, residential therapeutic treatment and community-based services statewide. The nonprofit offered the opportunity for LG&E and KU employees to start engaging with students in Kentucky in the Somerset, Elizabethtown and Danville areas to expose them to the wide array of career paths within the company.
