Closer look: Understanding your bill

Your bill contains plenty of detailed information that is easy to find and easy to understand – from specific breakdowns of your energy usage to a simple chart showing how your usage compares on a
month-to-month and yearly basis. You can even see your average daily energy cost.

This month we are exploring the front of your bill.

  1. At the top and shaded in red are the Amount Due and Payment Due Date.

  2. The Billing Summary provides an easy-to-read outline of your bill, including the total charges from your last statement, payments applied and the remaining balance along with the bill amount for the current month.

  3. This section includes your account name and service address along with ways to pay and contact information for Customer Service. We also include the date range of your next meter reading so you know when your meter will be read and you can be sure we are able to get to your meter, if needed. [If you have an advanced meter, log into My Account and select View My Meter to see your usage even before you see your monthly bill. My Meter lets you see how your habits affect your energy use and how extreme weather can impact your bills. It also lets you track other factors that impact your monthly costs.]

  4. Use the Billing Period At-A-Glance and Monthly Usage chart to compare how much energy you used this month to the energy you used during the last 12 months. This section also includes the average charges and usage per day and other impacts to your energy use such as the average temperature outside and the number of days billed.
