If planting a tree, take the time to know it’s in the right place

April 3, 2020

As you take a look around your yard this spring, there it is… the perfect spot to plant a new tree. But make sure you do a little planning before planting. It’s important to know details about the tree you want to plant. For example, how tall will it be when it’s fully mature? If there are overhead power lines in the area, you’ll want a tree that won’t interfere with those lines. We can help you find a tree that’s just right. Visit lge-ku.com/right-tree-right-place and download our brochure.

We’ve talked about what might be above. Now let’s focus on what could be below. April is Safe Digging Month, a reminder to contact 811 at least two working days before doing any planting. When you do that, local utilities (including us) will mark any underground wires or pipelines on your property, possibly saving you from a serious injury or even death. Just call 811 to submit your locate request. (If you are a KU customer visit lge-ku.com/safety/digging to see if you need to contact KU directly to submit your locate request.) The service is completely free.

So, get planning…and then planting.
