Meet Monica, Manager of Transmission Reliability Performance Standards
National Engineers Week is Feb.18-24, and U.S. companies, institutions and professional organizations are celebrating engineers and their positive impact on society. This is one in a series of articles this week to recognize our engineers and their contributions to LG&E and KU’s strategic growth and success.
Electrical engineer Monica F. leads a team of engineers who are responsible for improving the reliability of the LG&E and KU transmission system. Specifically, her team collects operating data, provides analysis, develops analytical tools, and collaborates with other departments to recommend projects and procedures to improve customer reliability.
Monica also develops strategies, policies and activities related to monitoring and improving reliability performance. In addition, she manages ratings for all transmission-level equipment to meet compliance requirements per NERC Reliability Standard FAC-008, which outlines the reliability requirements for planning and operating the North American bulk power system.
"I use my engineering background to investigate outages, recommend projects that support grid automation and reduce customer outages, as well as manage equipment ratings," said Monica. "We want our system to be safe, reliable, and affordable so we can provide the best experience for our customers."
