2021 Advanced Meter Program road map

December

One of the more valuable features you have access to as an advanced meter customer is the ability to set an Energy Alert. Via your MyMeter dashboard you can set a usage threshold based on your energy usage history. Once you set a threshold, you’ll receive an alert by text and/or email if your usage exceeds the amount you set.

Energy Alerts are a great way to help improve energy efficiency and can be a helpful tool in monthly budget planning.

When you sign in to your MyMeter account, click on Usage Dashboard to review your usage history. Once you’ve done that, click the home icon at the top of the page, then click on Alerts and Add Notifications. Fill in the information and save. That’s all there is to it.

November

With harsh winter weather on the horizon, now is a good time – if you haven’t already – to prepare your home for the cold. For example, caulking and/or adding weatherstripping around doors and windows will help keep warm air in and cold air out. Also, replacing your furnace filter can help your unit run more efficiently.

And as an Advanced Meter customer, once you have done some winterizing on your home, it’s a perfect time to set an Energy Marker. Then later you’ll be able to look back and see how your energy usage may have been impacted by your actions. To get started, just sign in to your MyMeter account and click on Energy Markers on your dashboard.

We place the utmost importance on protecting our customers’ safety and security, and we have strict practices in place to protect your energy usage information.

As one of our valued customers with an advanced meter, it’s important for you to know that your information is confidential and available only to you, authorized utility personnel as needed (for maintenance, billing and customer service) and those designated by you as an authorized, secondary user.

Some advanced meter customers have designated the following as authorized secondary users on their MyMeter accounts:

•    Energy audit service providers.
•    An adult child of an elderly parent who is living alone or traveling.
•    A financial assistance agency that offers assistance with utility bills.
•    The parents of a college student living off campus.

To add a secondary user, sign in to your MyMeter account and follow these steps.

August

One of the great features of your MyMeter dashboard is that it lets you easily see when your electricity peaked or if there was a spike in usage during a particular day and/or time.

Armed with this information, you may be able to determine if there was a specific cause for the increase. Maybe your cooling system had to work harder or longer because of extremely hot temperatures. Adjusting your thermostat up a degree or two can decrease usage.

Perhaps your kids came home from college for the weekend and they did more laundry. Keep in mind if each did multiple – but smaller – loads, you could have saved energy by having them combine their loads since your washer and dryer use the same amount of energy for smaller loads as they do for larger (full) loads.

Nobody likes to be surprised by a bill that’s higher than what they were expecting. As an Advanced Meter Program customer, you can avoid that scenario by setting an Energy Alert.

When you sign in to your MyMeter dashboard, you can easily sign up to receive an alert – by text and/or email – to let you know when your electricity usage exceeds a threshold you set. Learn more in this short video:

Sign in to your dashboard then click on “charts” or “data” to see your detailed usage, which will help you determine the threshold you want to set for your alert.

You can populate the top of your dashboard to show you a snapshot of how your usage, and thus your bill, is trending. Just click on any of the { } at the top of the page to select from a list of widgets you to display.

As an advanced meter customer, you can set an Energy Marker on the day you make the switch from your old appliance to the new one. That will allow you to see how your new, more efficient appliance is helping you reduce your energy usage.

To set an Energy Marker, sign in to your MyMeter dashboard and click on the Energy Markers box. Next, click on the “marker” button at top right, fill in the information and click on “Add Marker.” A marker will automatically be added to your dashboard.
