David Isbell is a Lead Key Account Manager for LG&E and KU, where he serves commercial, industrial, governmental and institutional customers across the company’s service territory. In this role, he partners with customers to support business growth, energy planning, and long-term investment strategies. His responsibilities span rate and billing support, energy efficiency and sustainability programs, as well as ensuring reliable service and addressing power quality needs.
Isbell joined the company in 2010 and brings a diverse background in utility operations and leadership. Throughout his tenure, he has held roles of increasing responsibility, including Electrical System Coordinator, Lead Electric System Coordinator and Team Leader of Transmission Operations Training. He has been instrumental in supporting the reliable operation of the bulk electric system, advancing workforce development initiatives, and promoting knowledge transfer across the organization. He has also represented the company in collaborative industry efforts through the SERC Reliability Corporation and the North American Transmission Forum (NATF), with a focus on reliability, operational excellence and industry standards compliance. He is a NERC-certified Reliability Coordinator.
Prior to joining LG&E and KU, Isbell held leadership roles with JB Hunt Transport Services and UPS Supply Chain Solutions, where he managed transportation, distribution and supply chain operations for major commercial and manufacturing customers.
With nearly 20 years of experience across utility operations, logistics, and customer engagement, Isbell works closely with businesses, community leaders and economic development partners to identify solutions that support expansion, investment and job creation throughout Kentucky.
He earned a Master of Business Administration in Sustainable Business, with a concentration in Government Policy and Administration, from Marylhurst University; a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Louisville, with a minor in economics; and an associate degree in airframe mechanics and aircraft maintenance technology from Redstone College. He also holds a Federal Aviation Administration Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
A resident of Louisville, Isbell lives with his wife and son. He is a kitten foster volunteer with the Kentucky Humane Society and has a passion for energy technologies, having designed and operated systems ranging from residential solar photovoltaic installations to advanced heat pump and inverter applications.
