Closer look: Understanding your bill

April 21, 2025

Your bill contains plenty of detailed information that is easy to find and easy to understand – from specific breakdowns of your energy usage to a simple chart showing how your usage compares on a month-to-month and yearly basis. You can even see your average daily energy cost.

This month we are exploring more sections of your bill. (Note that not every customer will see the same items on their bill.)

  1. The Current Usage section contains your meter readings and usage. We attempt to read your meter every month; however, sometimes the reading is estimated. [If you have an advanced meter, we read your meter electronically. You can log into My Account (my.lge-ku.com) and select View My Meter to see your usage even before you see your monthly bill.] To obtain your energy usage, we subtract the previous meter reading from the current reading. The current usage is then multiplied by the meter multiplier (typically 1) to obtain your monthly metered usage.

  2. The Current Charges section contains the calculations to arrive at the amount you owe for each energy service you have with us. Your total monthly usage is multiplied by your rate and added to any additional charges to obtain your total current charges.

  3. If you have an outdoor light, a section called “Current Unmetered Usage” will appear here.

  4. A section called “Taxes & Fees” will display a breakdown of taxes and fees, if applicable. For more information on specific line charges, visit lge-ku.com/residential and click on Understanding my bill link under Manage my bill.

  5. If you are unable to pay the bill by the due date, a late fee is charged and is indicated in the Billing Information section. The fee is based on a percentage of the current bill amount each month. (Note: Enrolling in Auto Pay and My Notifications is a great way to automatically pay your bill and be reminded of when it’s ready to be viewed and when it’s due). Additional information about programs in which you participate also appears in this section.
