LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Urban League (LUL) is proud to be the recipient of a $100,000 contribution from Louisville Gas and Electric Company. This one-time contribution has been made to support current program operations and services including those that benefit the underprivileged in our community in the areas of youth development, job search assistance and homeownership/foreclosure counseling.

"LUL has enjoyed a long history of support from LG&E. This gift recognizes and strengthens our ongoing efforts to empower people every day and improve our community for the better," said Ben Richmond, LUL President & CEO.

LUL Board Chair, Phyllis Anderson states, "LG&E has demonstrated its commitment to our community and has taken a lead role in corporate responsibility."

"We have been a part of this community for more than 170 years, and it's essential that we continue to help strengthen the bonds uniting our collective efforts to make Louisville a better place for generations to come," said Laura Douglas, vice president of Corporate Responsibility and Community Affairs for E.ON U.S., parent of LG&E and Kentucky Utilities Company. "We are committed to assisting invaluable community organizations like the Louisville Urban League, which has been a catalyst for so many citizens in our community to achieve a better way of life."

Each year the Louisville Urban League serves more than 11,000 individuals through direct services and extended collaborations, providing families throughout the community with opportunities to achieve economic stability. Support received from LG&E will help fund high-level engagement programs that directly impact and serve our clients in the community, such as:

  • Louisville Career Expo — Friday, March 24, Kentucky International Convention Center. Louisville Career Expo matches qualified and skilled prospective employees with great employment opportunities. Attended by more than 2,000 job seekers, this event provides face-to-face contact between employer and potential employees.
  • Financial Literacy Workshops — Tuesdays, March 2 and March 23. Improve your financial future by knowing the importance of being financially fit, educate yourself on credit and create a spending plan to get what you want out of life.
  • Foreclosure/Mortgage Default Counseling — Certified counselors assist homeowners by analyzing their financial situations. Counselors then work with clients and mortgage holders to establish repayment plans that may prevent foreclosure. Services are available by appointment.
