Adam Smith

Vice President-Electric Distribution

Adam Smith was named to his current position in March 2026.  He has 20+ years of electric industry experience.  In his current role, Smith is responsible for distribution grid strategy and operations to deliver safe and reliable electric service to LG&E and KU customers.

Prior to this role, Smith served as director of Distribution Operations with responsibilities for design, construction, maintenance, and day-to-day operations for Kentucky Utilities.  He also served as a manager in Transmission, developing and executing investment plans to improve LG&E and KU’s transmission system performance.  

Smith is a University of Kentucky graduate, a licensed professional engineer in Kentucky and is a husband and father of three.

Smith serves on the Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass board, Shriners Corporate Council, and Lexington Fayette County Corridors Commission. He is also a Leadership Lexington and Leadership Kentucky graduate.
