Charles Mehanna joined LG&E and KU in 1985, first as an electrical engineer in system planning and later in system operations, before transitioning to industrial and key account management. He was named to his current position in 2019, where he supervises key account managers at the company. Mehanna provides insight and guidance into the interpretation of company policies, procedures, regulatory tariffs, and business practices impacting major account customers. He works with departmental leadership in developing and implementing team strategies and overseeing key-account projects.

Mehanna’s team supports a wide range of industries, including automotive, chemicals, data centers, distilleries, electric machinery, food, metals, mining, and plastics.

Mehanna earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky, a Master's of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky and an MBA, also from the University of Kentucky. He is a member of the National Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi, and the National Electrical and Computer Engineering Honor Society, Eta Kappa Nu. Mehanna is a senior member of the Association of Energy Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

He is a former member of the University of Kentucky College of Engineering Alumni Association Board, where he was involved with the finance and retention/recruitment/diversity committees. He served as the vice president and treasurer of the KUE Federal Credit Union and treasurer of the Beaumont YMCA swim team. 

Mehanna resides in Lexington with his wife and daughter. His hobbies include photography and gardening.
