Dave Tummonds

Vice President–Power Production

Dave Tummonds was named to his current position in July of 2025. He has more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry.

Tummonds earned his bachelor’s degree with a major in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and joined LG&E and KU in December 2002. Prior to his current role, Tummonds served as the senior director of Project Engineering, the general manager of Ghent Generating Station, the general manager of Cane Run Generating Station, and prior to that, the director of Generation Services.

Tummonds began his career with LG&E and KU at the E.W. Brown Plant as a production supervisor for both their coal and gas facilities. He then completed a two-year expat assignment with E.ON working in both the Center of Competence and Global Fleet Management Center located in Hannover, Germany.

Prior to his career at LG&E and KU, Tummonds worked as a commissioning engineer with ALSTOM Power, within the General Electric Six Sigma program, and as an artillery officer with the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, GA.
