Rahn has been a part of the LG&E and KU family since 2002, when he was hired as a student engineer in Generation Services. During his tenure, post his graduation in 2003, he has held the following positions:

  • Support engineer and operations supervisor at one the company’s largest generation stations. Specifically, he led the full restack/rewind of a +500MW generator, implemented digital controls, and supervised the operation of two of the generators and coal yard.
  • Group leader of Operations and Manager of Policy and Tariff in Transmission. He participated in the restoration work on the transmission system during the 2008 Ice Storm, coordinated all tariff related requirements, and lead the implementation of FERC Order 1000.
  • Manager of Revenue Requirement as part of Rates and Regulatory. He led the team in determining cost justifications and allocations to LG&E and KU customers.  

While Rahn is originally from Houston, Texas, he earned a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in mathematics from the University of Kentucky and Master’s in Business Administration from Bellarmine University. Rahn serves as president for his HOA and is an IEEE member. He is also volunteer coach for youth sports and is active within community. He is married to a wonderful University of Louisville grad, so yes, red and blue can mix. Together they have two inspiring children who love to keep them on their toes with a smile.
