Construction gets underway on second array of Solar Share program

Our Solar Share program continues its rapid growth. The third array is close to 50% subscribed, and construction is underway on the second array, which is due to be completed and in operation this summer, weather permitting. Each 500-kilowatt section is made up of 1,400 solar panels.

The Solar Share program provides the opportunity for KU and LG&E customers to support local solar energy without the cost and maintenance of installing a private system. Visit lge-ku.com/solar-share to sign up. There is no enrollment fee; you simply choose a subscription level and pay a monthly fee of $5.55 for each 250-watt share (or choose a one-time charge of $799, which covers participation for 25 years). You’ll get a credit on your monthly bill based on your subscription level and the amount of energy produced by the Solar Share facility. Go to lge-ku.com/solar-share/dashboard to watch live as the facility generates power.

The Solar Share site – located just off I-64 in Shelby County, Kentucky – will ultimately be a four-megawatt facility consisting of eight solar arrays.
