A meter that’s easy to read means an accurate bill, indeed

September 30, 2021

You need to be confident that your monthly bill is accurate, and we want to make sure of that as well. That’s why it is very important that our meter readers have easy access to your meter. Meters should be out in the open as much as possible, with at least six feet of clearance in the front and two feet of clearance on either side.

If your meter is in a fenced-in area that is locked and/or you have a dog or some other pet, you can check your current bill to see when your meter will be read next and make arrangements to allow our readers to have access. You’ll find that information in the upper right corner of your bill.

Meters must be accessible between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Easy access not only ensures an accurate bill but also allows our technicians to provide a quicker response to emergencies, repair equipment or deal with any safety hazards.
