Driving the future: EVs in spotlight during Drive Electric Week

July 22, 2024

It’s no secret that electric vehicles (EVs) have seen an impressive rise in popularity the past few years. And with National Drive Electric Week (Sept. 27–Oct. 6) coming soon, it’s a great time to highlight the many benefits of EVs and hybrid (gas-electric) vehicles.

  • Cheaper “fuel” – With our typical electric rates, you’ll spend less than the equivalent of $1 per gallon of gas to charge your EV.
  • Increasing range – The average range for EVs is now more than 200 miles per charge, with some models featuring even larger driving ranges. And with the ability to charge right at home, plus a fast-growing network of public charging stations, EVs can go the distance.
  • Less maintenance – Imagine having no oil to change, spark plugs to replace or mufflers in need of repair. Maintaining your ride becomes much simpler – and potentially cheaper – with EVs.

For our part, we plan on making a portion of our vehicle fleet electric by 2030. We’ve also installed more than 30 publicly available and privately hosted charging stations across our service territories, right where people live, work and play.
