Electric vehicles (EVs) are now part of our everyday life. Chances are good you know someone who drives one if you don’t. National Drive Electric Month begins Sept. 12, so it’s the perfect time to look at the many benefits of EV and hybrid (gas-electric) vehicles.
- With EVs and hybrids, you’ll spend a lot less on “fuel.” In fact, based on our company’s electric rates, you’ll spend less than the equivalent of $1 per gallon of gas to charge your EV.
- No more oil changes or other more expensive engine maintenance or repairs. With fewer moving parts and a simpler drivetrain, EVs mean less – and likely less expensive – maintenance to perform.
- Advancing technology has also increased the driving range of today’s EVs, with average ranges now topping 200 miles. Add in a growing network of charging stations, plus the ability to charge at home, and today’s EVs are ready to take you anywhere.
We’re helping drive the EV movement by installing more than 30 publicly available and privately hosted charging stations across our service territories. We’re also committed to transitioning a portion of our vehicle fleet to electric by 2030.
