Foundation awards $12,000 in scholarships to 10 students across Kentucky
(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) – Today, LG&E and KU Energy LLC announced the awarding of scholarships to 10 outstanding area students. The LG&E and KU Foundation provides $1,200 in financial assistance for up to four years for children of employees of LG&E and KU. The scholarships are intended for tuition, books, fees, supplies and classroom equipment.
“Supporting education is critical to our work in improving the quality of life in the communities we serve,” said Angie Evans, vice president of LG&E and KU Corporate Responsibility and Community Affairs. “We wish these students the best for their academic careers and tremendous success in all of their promising futures.”
For the 2021 awards, program administrator Scholarship America (SA) reviewed applications from college-bound children of employees. SA’s Scholarship Selection Committee, which is comprised of individuals not associated with LG&E or KU, selected the recipients based on academic skills, school and community activities, leadership abilities, and communication skills demonstrated by each student’s personal statement.
