What do you do at LG&E and KU, and how does your work help customers?
I’m one of the leaders for our Engineering Design Technicians. Our department is primarily responsible for using computer-aided drafting (CAD) to provide construction with drawings they use to add to, relocate, or enhance our gas and electric infrastructure. We also act as liaisons between our customers and construction departments, to get new gas and electric services and meters to residential and commercial sites.
What does the community you serve mean to you?
It means a lot. I’m first-generation born in Louisville, Ky. and now I’m raising my family here. So, it’s very important for me to try to create the environment that I feel will allow my kids access to all of the opportunities and more that I have had. I have spent the majority of my career at LG&E and KU, giving back to this community, time and treasure, to try and create that environment.
What’s a moment or part of your job that makes you most proud?
That’s an easy one! Being in operations, everyone is part of storm restoration efforts. It is a very proud moment when you get to help a customer get their service restored after a large weather event. Those moments, on a macro level, make me very proud. On a micro level, the volunteer opportunities the company provides to support youth or underserved communities, ranks at the top too.
How do you stay involved in your community?
I support the Academy Programs for Jefferson County Public Schools and Greater Clark County school districts. I enjoy my volunteer work with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, serve on local boards, and coach my kids’ sports teams.
What are you most excited about when you think about the future and your work at LG&E and KU?
I’m interested in seeing what the future of work looks like for our industry. Over my 24 years I have seen a lot of change, but none greater than these last 5-6 years.
