What do you do at LG&E and KU, and how does your work help customers?
I am the Sr. Manager of the Transmission Project Development team. My team is responsible for preparing Transmission Lines and Substation projects for safe and successful execution. The projects we work on improve customer reliability and system resiliency.
What does the community you serve mean to you?
The community we serve means a lot to me because our work directly impacts customers and makes a positive difference in their daily lives. Since I live here and am raising my family here, I take pride in working for a company that supports our neighbors, local businesses, and the overall well-being of our community.
What’s a moment or part of your job that makes you most proud?
When driving around town, if my young kids see large transmission structures, they will call them out –“Mommy towers!” Their basic understanding of helping keep the lights on is an awesome reminder that I’m doing something that impacts people’s lives every day.
How do you stay involved in your community?
I am involved in the community in a few ways – I am active in both youth sports and school STEM activities. I have coached youth soccer for several years, and my favorite age is the youngest. Helping them understand fundamentals while having fun is awesome! I also participate frequently in STEM activities as a school volunteer presenting about careers in STEM and the energy field. I am passionate about encouraging the next generation of STEM interest in kiddos!
What’s something people might not realize about the work you do?
I think there is so much that happens across the company around the clock to ensure power is always available. I have had the opportunity in my career at LG&E and KU to work in Generation, Distribution and now Transmission. I am always so impressed by the skilled and knowledgeable employees in all areas of the business who work together to keep the lights on.
What are you most excited about when you think about the future and your work at LG&E and KU?
The continued advancements in technology and what the future holds for the utility industry, in general, is very exciting. We continue to invest in a more reliable, resilient grid which is all to improve system reliability for our customers.
