LG&E and KU offer information and resources to support customers who plan to operate a Qualifying Facility.

Getting started

The sections below outline the QF application process and provide a link to the information intake form to help you get started.

Step 1

Obtain QF Certification

  • This process requires QF Certification.
  • Self-certification is acceptable.
  • Submit proof of certification or receipt of acknowledgement of receipt from the commission.

Step 2

Complete QF Intake Form

Step 3

System Evaluation

  • LG&E and KU will evaluate the intake form.
  • There will be clarification of response to intake form questions.
  • The QF customer applicant will be responsible for all incremental interconnection costs.

Step 4

QF Study

  • Signing of a QF Study Agreement
  • Deposit for the QF Study
  • LG&E and KU completes the QF Study
  • Review of interconnection costs identified by the QF Study

Step 5

TSR Study

  • Signing of a TSR Study Deposit Agreement
  • Deposit for the TSR Study
  • ITO completes the TSR Study
  • Possible Facilities Study
  • Review of study results

Step 6

Interconnection Agreement

  • LG&E and KU will execute an Interconnection Agreement.
  • The agreement will be reviewed by the KY Public Service Commission.
