When the heat’s too much, try a cooler touch

One of the easiest ways to stay cool during summer’s hottest days is to avoid using your stove or oven. That will help reduce the heat in your home and, since you’ll be using less energy, it’ll help lower your monthly bill. So, you might want to consider firing up the grill more frequently. And to whet your appetite, check out the recipe we’re sharing here.

With keeping cool a top priority, here are a few other suggestions for keeping the heat at bay.

  • Keep your blinds and curtains/drapes closed, especially during the hottest part of the day.
  • Make sure registers are unblocked and open. Keep them clean to help improve airflow.
  • Use ceiling fans (set them to rotate counterclockwise). Remember – the fan does its job by cooling   you, not the room, so turn it off when the room is empty.
