Egg-citing news: Eight Peregrine falcons fledged this season

While the company’s peregrine falcon webcam was nestled in the corner of a small nesting box high at the Mill Creek Generating Station, its reach was truly international, with viewers tuning in from as far away as India.

This year, birdwatchers in 31 states and six countries around the world watched new falcon chicks take flight, racking up nearly 54,000 views of the company’s falcon webpage and related falcon web content.

Although the company’s peregrine falcon webcam features activity from Mill Creek, it is emblematic of the company’s larger efforts to protect and grow the peregrine falcon population, which began decades ago. In 2024, another eight falcon chicks successfully fledged from nesting boxes at the company’s Mill Creek, Ghent and Trimble County generating stations.

Since 1999, 198 peregrine falcons have been successfully raised and banded at company generating stations. Visit our falcon page for updates on the next peregrine falcon season, expected to begin in February 2025!
