No gas and no oil needed: These mowers are super cost effective – and cute to boot

It’s almost time for our special grazers to return to work at our solar facility at the E.W. Brown generating station in Harrodsburg, Ky. More than 100 sheep from nearby Shaker Village take care of keeping vegetation under control around the 44,000 solar panels situated on 50 acres at the plant site.

Our sheep-ish natural maintenance crew first began work at the facility in 2020. At that time, there were only 25 sheep maintaining about 10 acres. There are now enough sheep to “mow” all 50 acres. The sheep are on site each spring and summer, returning to Shaker Village in the fall. Shaker Village manages their overall care, shears them and sells their wool to a local vendor.
