Customer refunds: What to know

Attention Kentucky customers: We know changes to your bill matter. We want to make sure you know the details about the refund that will appear on your bill.

LG&E and KU began using interim rates on Jan. 1, 2026, as part of a rate request filed in May 2025. The Kentucky Public Service Commission’s (KPSC) final order was filed on Feb, 16, which resulted in a refund to you for services billed between Jan. 1 and Feb. 16.

  • You don’t need to do anything — any refund will be applied automatically within 60 days of the KPSC’s final decision.
  • Your refund is calculated based on the amount of energy you used during the interim period.
  • The refund will vary by customer depending on energy use and billing cycle.
  • The refund will be applied as a credit on your bill by April 17.
