Spot the signs: Protect yourself from utility scams

Utility scams are on the rise, but recognizing high-pressure tactics can keep you safe. Scammers often pose as utility representatives and threaten immediate service disconnection unless you pay right away.

Red flags to watch for:

  • Immediate payment demands: We never call demanding instant payment to avoid immediate disconnection.
  • Specific payment methods: We never require payment via prepaid debit cards, gift cards, digital apps (Zelle/Venmo), or Bitcoin.
  • Spoofed numbers: Scammers manipulate caller ID to look like our number.

What to do: If something feels wrong, hang up immediately. Log into My Account at my.lge-ku.com, use our mobile app or call customer service at 502-589-1444 to check your actual status. Visit lge-ku.com/safety/scams to learn more.
