Don’t forget! Follow the law before putting that shovel in the ground

Thursday, Aug. 11 (8/11) is National Call Before You Dig Day. This serves as a reminder that if you are planning any project that includes digging, the law requires you contact 811 at least two business days before you turn any dirt. Member utilities will mark their public underground lines – electric, cable, gas, water – free of charge. That one easy task will let you know where it’s safe to dig, keeping you from damaging an underground utility line and saving you from a possible serious injury, hefty fine or repair bill. Visit lge-ku.com/811 to learn more.

It’s important to know our line locators DO NOT locate private underground lines (service lines that run beyond the meter). Customers with private underground lines will need to contract with a private locate company to have these lines marked.
